Rekka's group tried to add to their ranks the skilled 'Kurenai the Demon Hunter,' who'd returned from abroad, but partly due to Kurenai's hatred of men, they were flatly refused. However, as fellow demon hunters, they end up crossing paths wherever they go, and by defeating the formidable foe 'Burai,' their hearts connect, and Kurenai becomes a new fighting force for Guren. Around that time, rumors of a 'Mummy Woman' spread through the town. Feeling a sense of unease upon hearing the story, Rekka heads to the mountains alone. Just what is the true identity of the 'Mummy Woman' he meets there...!?
Our take
Guren Act 2 (Kurenai Dai-ni-maku: Yami) is a Japanese-style action hentai anime built around demon hunters, and the package credits a ZONE PC game as its source.
The color work carries it. Deep crimson and indigo hold every frame, kimono silhouettes are mixed with western boots and long gloves, and the linework stays thick over two-tone cel shading. Faces are separated by brow and mouth shapes rather than hair color alone.
Backgrounds sink into mountain darkness, so tension comes from the brightness gap between skin and shadow. This is a middle chapter, yet the atmosphere reads on its own. Check the sample footage for the art.
