Story
Through the streets sparkling as Christmas nears, the professor walks off alone, lonely. A week had already passed since Ruri left the professor's side. Before such a professor, another woman, "Koruri," appears from within the jar in which Ruri had been sealed. She insists that she too is Ruri, but Ruri's whereabouts are unknown even to her... Yoko, unable to bear watching the crestfallen professor, admonishes him to be honest with his own heart. "If you really love Ruri, you should go looking for her," she says. The professor nods at those words. He resolves what he must do now—to go and search for Ruri.
Our take
Shin Ruriiro no Yuki volume 3 is a cel-era OVA and looks the part. The jacket prints Ai'll (Team Riva) as the original work with the period staff credits. A new character, Koruri, emerges from the sealed jar.
Outlines are thick, and shadows fall in two flat tones. Koruri wears a white hooded robe with a purple sash, a red skirt and white socks banded in red, while blonde, green-eyed Ruri floats behind her among snow and star motifs. The winter town stays cool-toned, the characters warm.
As the third chapter of a serial, it reads best alongside the volumes around it. Anyone curious about pre-digital linework should look at the samples.
