Our take
An invisible man premise drives this 2006 Vanilla Series entry, and the whole production turns on one question: how do you draw someone who cannot be seen.
The art is brighter than most of the label, with thin lines and few shadow steps. Bathhouse tiles, open sky on the walk to school and classroom windows give the backgrounds an everyday brightness. Invisibility is handled with semi-transparent cels that keep only the outline.
Mimura Sougetsu handled concept, direction, storyboards, character design, animation direction and script, with colour design by Kuroneko. The samples show how the transparency is drawn.
