Story
Takakage is a third-year university student. Having lost both parents in a traffic accident, he lives alone in a house with his younger sister Maiko. Though they are called siblings, they are step-siblings with no blood relation. Their parents each remarried, and the two are each other's stepchildren. His childhood friend next door, Mayumi Hiiragi, has been in love with Takakage for a long time. Yet she still can't bring herself to confess. When her mother says, 'Maiko-chan has really become beautiful, hasn't she,' Mayumi's feelings grow complicated. She sees Maiko—who is closer to Takakage than she is—as a formidable rival in love. Maiko is sickly, but she worked hard and this spring passed into the university Takakage attends. On campus, the clubs and circles are eagerly recruiting new students. Mayumi of the fortune-telling research club calls out to Takakage and Maiko, who were together, and reads their fortune with a crystal ball. 'Takakage's past life was a soldier in the warring-states era, and he is fated to fall in love with a woman he'll meet within the next few days...' the reading says.
