Story
The great pirate Vancrad, feared and called the 'Pirate King.' His end came on a certain deserted island, where he breathed his last due to the betrayal of his own subordinates. From lingering regret that his ambition went unfulfilled and hatred toward the traitors, he became a vengeful spirit and came to wander the deserted island. Three hundred years later... having taken over the body of its new owner, Klaus, Vancrad infiltrates a kingdom and, as a naval officer, sets out to strike down Olivia, hailed as the strongest of the three pirates. But that was merely the prologue to his tale of revenge, and its spearhead would turn toward the royals Iris and Mireille.
Our take
A fantasy hentai OVA of pirates and royalty, drawn in muted purple and wine. The package credits Liquid for the original work and Teruaki Murakami as director, framing blue-eyed princesses against candlelit ship timbers.
Line work is thick and eye highlights are large, an older studio look. Candle-colored light falls across skin, and sails, chains and cabin woodwork are painted in rather than left flat. The back cover lines up Olivia, Iris and Mireille, read by hair color and costume.
