Story
Nanase's father commits suicide in prison. Nanase, who had believed in his innocence, is temporarily thrown into a frenzy by the shock of losing her father, but eventually, though she fiercely refuses, her body comes to crave men to an abnormal degree. Obara, Mikimoto, and the others toy with such Nanase as they please, treating her as "a convenient woman." The teacher Tsukasa Aoi was the advisor of the tennis club. When she happens to see the "Atonement Newspaper" and learns of the bullying of Nanase, she tries to stop it. But she's caught instead, and gets utterly ravaged by the rioting students. However, the "Atonement Newspaper" that Tsukasa read was written neither by Mikimoto nor by Narumi. Who is the third author? And it was written even more realistically than Mikimoto's version—so much so that Mikimoto, who aspires to be a journalist, feels jealous. Who on earth wrote this? Madoka, Tsukasa, or...?
Our take
The second half of BAD END, a Vanilla Series school drama built around a question: who actually wrote the newsletter that set everything in motion.
Visually it is early-2000s cel animation in a heavy red and black key. The cover close-up leaves a single highlight in the eye and buries the rest in shadow, and the sample stills keep corridors and rooms underlit so only warm floor tones and uniforms carry the frame.
It pairs with the first half rather than standing alone, and the teacher Aoi Tsukasa joins the cast here. If that brush-stroke, monochrome mood suits you, look through the samples.
