After school, once the sun has fully set, Masaki reunites with Mai Mutsuki, his childhood friend and his next target. Mai adores Masaki, calling him 'big brother.' The two sit side by side and let the flowers of reminiscence bloom, but Masaki, looking troubled, brings up a matter to consult her about. "Actually, it's about your father..." "Huh? Papa?" Masaki tells her that the repayment deadline for her father's debt has passed, and that he wants her to somehow repay it urgently. Mai, not knowing the repayment amount, carelessly promises, "It's fine! Don't worry! Even if I can't pay it back right away, I'll manage somehow!" But the repayment amount is in the hundreds of millions. He'd already confirmed with the maid Riko that it's not something she can prepare right away. "I see, so Mai will manage it for me..." Masaki's eyes glinted ominously. The next day, in the buzzing classroom, Mizuki Kanna's seat is empty. Masaki only spared it a glance. Then, after school. Mai looks around restlessly. Confirming Masaki isn't there, she quietly tries to head home, but is caught by Masaki, who had been lying in wait.
