Story
One night, at a merchant's mansion, the kunoichi Yasuzu is being violated by the men of the 'half-oni,' those dyed with 'oni ki.' The half-oni mercilessly torment Yasuzu, who was still a virgin. What surfaces in Yasuzu's mind is the presence of her admired senior kunoichi, Botan. Around that time, Botan too infiltrates the merchant's mansion. Using her signature ninja art 'shadow clone,' she produces two clones and takes down the patrolling guards one after another. But then the merchant appears, dragging along the battered Yasuzu. Caught off guard, Botan and her two clones are captured by the half-oni...
Our take
Kunoichi Botan is a dark fantasy hentai anime in a feudal Japanese setting, credited to an Enokidzu original and labeled part one. The hook is structural: Botan splits into three with a shadow-clone technique, so the ambush closes from three directions at once.
The color work is severe. Backgrounds sit in ink-dark blue-green, and Botan's red garment is the only saturated thing on screen. The han-oni are gray-skinned monster men with horns and blank white eyes, so human and inhuman silhouettes never blur.
The brush-written title bleeds red across the cover, and the manor is the whole map. The samples show that palette in motion.
