Story
This is the town of Yotsuya. An ordinary provincial city you could find anywhere. But the detective agency standing in one corner of that town is NOT ordinary at all! "I'm Hikari Hyakkiya! I'm a detective who runs an office in this town!" That detective possesses yokai powers and is a detective of justice who delivers legal judgment upon evil yokai! Cute cat ears and breasts she's proud of. Being a little clumsy is part of her charm ♪ A new case lands at Hikari's feet. The obscene state of women found in the mountains, and a lewd old custom once practiced in the village at the foot of the mountain. Just who is the culprit!? Leave any mystery to the yokai detective, Hikari Hyakkiya! With detective Hyakkiya "Hikari's" erotic, curvy body, every case gets neatly solved.
Our take
Monster horror crossed with a detective premise, this first episode of the Hyakkiya detective series frames an old mountain legend as a ghost story.
Color is the hook. Black silhouettes are outlined in glowing red, while a blonde catgirl and a silver haired figure are lit bright against them. Cross shaped highlights and gold irises mark the non human side. Lines are fine, skin is kept pale with little shading, and wooden interiors blur into depth.
As episode one it introduces the office and its case at the same time, so it works as an entry point. Check the samples for the contrast between the dark screen and the bright character art.
