Story
To help clear snow at his grandparents' house, the protagonist moved to snow country. There he met a special girl. Her name is Hijiri Kanbayashi, a fellow resident of the dormitory his grandparents manage. Despite the mysterious air of her odd eyes, she has a surprisingly playful side. As the two spend their days under one roof, they are drawn to each other and eventually become lovers... A night spent alone together. As Hijiri takes a shower, she senses that tonight will be a special night.
Our take
Pure vanilla romance, adapted from the Azarashi Soft visual novel Amakano. A young man moves to snow country and shares his grandparents' dormitory with Sei Kanbayashi, an odd eyed girl who proves far more playful than she looks.
The cover is all warmth: Sei in a blue off shoulder knit, cheeks faintly flushed, against pale pink and drifting snowflakes. The reverse panels stay in that register, two people close together in quiet rooms, linework soft and colours pastel.
This is the sweet end of the genre, where the draw is affection and a shared roof rather than conflict. The samples give a fair sense of the tone.
