Story

Our take
Magical girl meets tentacle fantasy in the first volume of Magical Girl Erena, on the Valkyria Animation Mode label. It covers the initial encounter and the transformation, so it works as an entry point.
The art runs on thick cel-style outlines and a hard complementary palette: a red moon over a magenta night sky, a blonde heroine raising her staff, dark coils set against her white costume. Eye highlights shrink as the scenes turn.
