Story

Our take
The Shin Hitou Meguri series names each entry after a part of a kimono, and this one takes the miyatsuguchi, the seam at the side of the sleeve. The setting is a country inn, and the camera stays with Iori, the hostess working there.
Design work is rounded and wide-eyed, indigo hair marked by a red ribbon. Tatami, paper screens and white bedding hold the frame at low saturation, so only the hair and the navy of the uniform stay dense, and the drawing goes into lowered lashes and a flush along the cheek.
A guest calling himself a detective closes the distance across a single room. The samples show the switch between uniform and kimono.
