Story
The protagonist has moved to snow country to help clear the snow at his grandparents' house. There he meets special girls. A serious, graceful classmate. Sayuki Takayashiro, the only daughter of a shrine, a picture-perfect Yamato Nadeshiko and shrine maiden. A friendly upperclassman, popular even at school. Hijiri Kamibayashi, who, contrary to the mysterious air lent by her odd eyes, is surprisingly playful. A friendly, always-energetic underclassman. Koharu Hoshikawa, who becomes as attached as a puppy to those she completely trusts. We bring you three different stories, each in its own way.
Our take
Mary Jane adapts Amakano, the Azarashi Soft visual novel, as a special edition built from three short heroine stories. Snowflake motifs across the package match the snow-country setting of school and shrine.
Shishiza Tenma handles direction and character design in pastel tones: brown blazers, checked skirts, blue and red ribbons separating the three leads. Large eye highlights and soft blush sit against warm lamplight inside the wooden shrine and cold blue outside.
Sayuki, Mizuki and Koharu each get a segment, so the appeal is seeing familiar visual novel designs put into motion. The samples give a fair read on the animation.
